The newly appointed Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Rear Admiral Murtala Bashir, last Thursday assumed office as the 19th commandant of the apex training institution for executives of security agencies in Nigeria and abroad.
Until his appointment as NDC Commandant, Bashir, an astute administrator was the Commandant, Naval War College, Nigeria (NWCN).
He took over from the former commandant, Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, following his retirement from active service.
While handing over to Bashir, Daji congratulated him, describing the appointment as well deserved.
Rear Admiral Murtala Mormoni Bashir, is a member of 38 regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academic (NDA) Kaduna. The Admiral has attended several military and civil courses during the course of his career. Notably among them are the Junior and Senior Staff Course at the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji Kaduna.
He was also at the National Defence University Islamabad Pakistan.
Rear Admiral Bashir holds a Master Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, Security and War Studies. Until his appointment as the Commandant Naval War College Nigeria on the 15 March 2021, he was the Director of Operations at the NHQ. The Senior Officer enjoys playing football and reading. He is married and the union is blessed with 5 children.
