All union tricycles (Keke) and shuttle buses have been prohibited from operating in Anambra state as part of Governor Charles Soludo’s goal to transform the state into one of the leading cosmopolitan states.
On Friday, September 30, Joe Igbokwe, a leader in the governing All Progressive Congress (APC), posted on social media to announce this. The post sighted that in addition to the prohibition on the Keke and shuttle bus unions, additional regulations were allegedly established by the state government in order to facilitate the operation.
All commercial shuttle drivers, pick-up truck drivers, and micro truck drivers were requested to pay N5000 weekly or N20,000 monthly, according to some of the requirements.
The state government gave instructions to tricycle drivers to remit N4000 weekly or N15000 monthly. Operators of interstate vehicles were urged to pay a total of N25000 per month or N6250 per week. It was learned that drivers who follow the rules will receive health insurance as compensation.

Drivers and riders who disobey the state’s development have been warned to get ready to dance to the tune of the consequences that would follow.
Anyone or any group engaged in any type of unionism or attempting to organize keke or bus drivers will face legal repercussions. Additionally, it was learned that state governors recommended criminals operating out of garages and parking lots register with the state government for vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
