The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged Bauchi wheat farmers to repay their loans.
Adamu Juli Misau, Chairman of the Wheat Farmers Association of Nigeria (WFAN), Bauchi State, has urged beneficiaries of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) loan facility to ensure prompt repayment of the loan so that the apex bank’s support package can continue to flow.
The purpose of the loan, according to Misau, is to encourage wheat farmers in the state to produce large quantities of the commodity in order to help Nigeria achieve wheat self-sufficiency.
He made the remarks during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the farms of some of the loan recipients in Bauchi State’s Kirfi and Alkaleri local government areas.
Many Wheat farmers who were unable to benefit from this round of the loan package will be targeted for the next round of the exercise, he said, adding that this will only be possible if the current beneficiaries are able to repay what they were given on time and in full, with no shortfall.

The purpose of the visit, according to the chairman, who was represented by State Supervisor of Extension Workers Alhaji Adamu Zidanga, was to see for themselves the level of application of the resources on their farms as well as to provide them with useful advice on how to best apply the resources for the best results.
He expressed his delight at the group’s approach to wheat production in the state, saying that the union, in collaboration with the CBN, would continue to provide them with modern farming implements to help boost wheat production across the state.
He claimed that massive wheat production would help to improve the common man’s living conditions and reduce poverty among Nigerians.
In separate remarks, the chairman of the wheat farmers association of Alkaleri and Kirfi local governments, Ibrahim Yunusa, and Garba Maigari, thanked CBN for its assistance.
