Following a petition by the family and indigenes of Ojomu community in Ajiran land to the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the gruesome murder of their son and a youth leader in the community, Sheriff Ishola Salami, the Centre For Human and Socio-Economic Rights, CHSR, has made a formal press briefing to demand that the Police be made to investigate the matter and serve justice to the perpetrators of his murder and give relief to the family of the deceased and his community.

Sheriff Ishola Salami was allegedly murdered on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, by yet to be identified assailants. As a youth leader in Ojomu community, Ajiran land in Eti- Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, he was vehemently opposed to the activities of land grabbers in the community.

This brought him in the eye of the storm to those who are in disrepute in the community for these illegal activities of thuggery, blackmail and murder as goes with their land grabbing acts.

Even after the incident that claimed Sheriff Ishola Salami’s life was reported to the Ogombo Police Station , Lekki with an accompanying letter from an attorney to the Assistant Inspector General Of Police,Zonal Command Headquarters, Zone II, Onikan, Lagos, amongst other issues, a demand into the probe of the murder has remained unattended, three months after the incident.

Following these developments, the centre for human rights and Socio-economic rights has made demands to compel the Lagos State Police Command to act without delay to unravel the perpetrators of Salami’s murder and ensure that all who are behind it should face the full wrath of the law.
