The Acting Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Ikeja-Lagos, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, has visited sister security and law enforcement agencies in Lagos to strengthen inter-agency cooperation against smuggling and trans-border crimes.
The familiarisation tour which commenced on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, took him to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters where he was received by CP Tijani Fatai, as well as the DSS, Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army, NDLEA Strategic Command, NIS and 9 Brigade, Ikeja.
DC Afeni said no agency can succeed alone, noting that crime rates often rise ahead of elections as some elements attempt to cause crises, hence the need for closer synergy in intelligence sharing and joint operations. CP Fatai and GOC 81 Division, Maj.-Gen. Adebayo Babalola, reaffirmed commitment to sustained collaboration with Customs in support of national security and economic interests.
