The Delta State Police Command has arrested 40-year-old content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over allegations of rape. According to the Command, the suspect was arrested following a petition that on June 1, 2026, the 20-year-old victim traveled to Asaba at his invitation for a content creation training he promoted online. The Command said the victim later alleged she was assaulted at a hotel and subsequently made a video recounting the incident before her death.

Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command in Effurun to carry out a full investigation immediately after the petition was received. Police operatives arrested Ogbonna and said he made statements during preliminary questioning. The Command stated that further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the case.

CP Oyeniyi assured the family of the deceased and the public that the matter will be handled professionally and that no aspect will be overlooked. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to pursuing the case in line with the law. The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
