Three prominent Nigerian schools — Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha; St. Patrick’s College, Asaba; and Muwanshat International Academy, Jalingo — are the latest to join the Geneith Health Competition, GHC, as nationwide registration ramps up ahead of the October 30, 2026 national finale. The schools signed on following advocacy visits by GHC regional activators, with students and management pledging to compete for national honours and a share of the over ₦1 billion prize pool.
Organisers say the competition has grown into more than an academic contest, positioning students as frontline advocates in the fight against malaria. At DMGS, Principal Revd. Dr. Chiemezie Ogidi described the initiative as critical to keeping students in class and building a culture of prevention. Similar receptions in Taraba and Delta reflected strong student interest, with school officials noting the programme blends academic excellence with public health impact.
The GHC, organised by CEOAFRICA and sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals with endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Health, is open to JSS, SSS and tertiary students across 36 states and the FCT. The contest runs in three phases — online qualifiers, state competitions, and regional finals — before the national finale. CEOAFRICA MD, Prince Cletus Iloabanafor, said the goal is to raise a generation of health ambassadors, while Geneith Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Umenwa, disclosed plans to expand to other health issues in future editions.
