President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat have called on Nigerians to uphold love, tolerance, generosity, and obedience to the rule of law as foundations for peaceful coexistence and national development. Speaking after Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi, they urged citizens to reject discrimination, ethnic division, and hatred, and to draw lessons of compassion and sacrifice from the season.
Tinubu said the festival should inspire Nigerians to treat one another with kindness and dignity, stressing that criminality and banditry have no place in religion or morality. He emphasized that respect for life and obedience to the law are central to faith and to tackling insecurity. Hamzat echoed the call for patience, peaceful coexistence, and adherence to the rule of law, adding that fear of God means not harming others and that peace and unity are vital for sustainable development.
Lagos Chief Imam Sheikh Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla urged Muslims and all Nigerians to shun indiscipline, violence, and terrorism, noting that Islam’s essence is love and peaceful living. He called for sacrifice in the spirit of past national heroes and said unity must take precedence to ensure Nigeria’s continued progress. Hamzat also stressed the role of parents in raising children with strong moral values to build a more harmonious society.
