The Federal Government plans to extend the Presidential Executive Order on local pharmaceutical manufacturing by two years as it pushes to make Nigeria a regional pharma hub.

The plan was disclosed at the 8th Nigeria Pharma Manufacturers Expo (NPME 2026) held Sept 28-29 at Harbour Point, Lagos, where over 200 exhibitors gathered to discuss medicine security and local production.

PMGMAN Chairman Oluwatosin Jolayemi said extension beyond March 2027 will help manufacturers deepen investment, while Ministers Iziaq Salako and John Enoh pledged incentives, NAFDAC announced 37 factories under upgrade, and PMGMAN unveiled its Quality Plus project with the next expo slated for 2028.
