Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has urged investors, sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions, and infrastructure developers to partner with Lagos in delivering world-class infrastructure and industrial growth. At Invest Lagos 3.0, themed “Lagos – The Business Gateway to Africa” held at Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, he said the state is positioning itself as Africa’s premier industrial destination through long-term planning, policy stability, and private sector collaboration. “Lagos is open. Build with us. Finance with us. Partner with us. Scale with us,” Hamzat declared, citing the Lagos State Development Plan 2022–2052, THEMES+ Agenda, and Industrial Policy 2025–2030 as the blueprint for sustainable economic growth.
With over 25 million residents and contributing roughly 30% of Nigeria’s GDP, Hamzat said Lagos has the scale and demand to anchor Africa’s next phase of growth. He pointed to flagship projects driving that ambition: Lekki Deep Sea Port, massive road expansions, and the Lagos Medical Industrial and Innovation Zone. On AfCFTA, he noted Lagos is ready to maximize the continent’s biggest economic reform, adding that “the city that builds a productive base, maintains high standards, and operates efficiently at scale will emerge as a leader under AfCFTA. Lagos is determined to be that city.”
Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem said the summit attracted 300+ international delegates and strong investor interest, with deal room talks already advancing in healthcare, manufacturing, energy, tech, and agribusiness. Priority projects include LASMIZ, opportunities in the Lekki Economic Zone, and a proposed $20 billion vehicle manufacturing plant. She assured investors of continued engagement through Lagos’ investment promotion platform and PPP framework, saying the real measure of success will be the deals and partnerships secured in the months ahead.
