LAGOS — The Lagos State Government has presented 2,000 Cowry Cards to the Nigeria Police Force to ease transportation for officers deployed across the state.

The donation was made by Hon. Hassan Adekoya, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation and Logistics, and received on behalf of the IGP, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, by AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom of FCID Annex, Lagos. The initiative under the state’s transport support programme gives 2,000 police personnel three months of free travel on BRT, Electric Boats, Blue Line and Red Line services. After that, they will get a 50% fare discount on the same services.

Receiving the gesture, AIG Akpanudom thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the sustained welfare support to the police, saying it will reduce transport costs, boost morale, and deepen partnership between the state and the Force on security. Lagos CP, Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, assured the cards will be distributed fairly and used only for official transport. He also restated the Command’s commitment to professionalism and accountability in keeping Lagos safe for residents.
