Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have rescued four kidnapped children and reunited them with their families after intercepting a suspected trafficker at Alafia Bus Terminal, Coker-Orile. The rescue happened around 11:40 p.m. on 8 May 2026 during a routine patrol when officers spotted the children with an unidentified woman attempting to board a bus heading out of Lagos.
According to police, the suspect fled on sighting the patrol team, abandoning the children. Preliminary findings showed the children had been taken from Ijesha-Tedo earlier that day and were being moved out of the state at night. The children were placed in protective custody, their parents contacted, and reunification completed swiftly.
Commissioner of Police CP Tijani Fatai praised the officers for their alertness and professionalism, and restated the Command’s commitment to protecting children and vulnerable persons. He urged parents and guardians to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving children to the nearest police station immediately. Investigations are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and identify other possible accomplices.
