It’s been one hundred and seventy years since the first Chief Imam of the Lagos State, Sheikh Abdul Nafiu Gana was installed.
Islamic scholars and Muslim faithful from all walks of life – the young, aged and women converged on the Lagos Central Mosque to supplicate for sustained peaceful coexistence. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy Obafemi Hamzat joined the Muslim community in their special prayer session.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stressed that Islamic leaders must continue to promote religious tolerance and be ready to provide spiritual guidance to political office holders when the need arises
The event is also focused on celebrating the consistency of the Ibrahim dynasty which has produced Chief Imams of Lagos State in the last hundred years.
