Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory, arresting 132 suspects and recovering 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances. The non-stop two-week offensive, jointly conducted by the Agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation and the FCT Strategic Command from 11th to 25th April 2026, followed weeks of intelligence and surveillance targeting identified hotspots fueling substance abuse and trafficking in the capital.
The coordinated raids covered notorious drug hubs including Torabora hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis. Recovered substances include 214.79kg of skunk cannabis, 5.524kg of Diazepam, 2.352kg of Exol, 1.119kg of Tramadol, 145.8g of Mogadon, 93.52g of Cocaine, 84.3g of Rohypnol, 10.9g of Methamphetamine, 3.17g of Ecstasy, and six bottles of Codeine syrup. Despite stiff resistance at Durumi Area 1 and Suleja market, NDLEA officers subdued the syndicates and disrupted distribution networks without recording any casualty.
Briefing Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Director of Operations and General Investigation, DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the resilience and professionalism of all officers involved and stressed the need for sustained pressure to consolidate gains. Marwa hailed the teams for their commitment to cleaning up the FCT and directed that the operational model be replicated across other high-risk urban centres to maintain pressure on drug cartels and suppress both demand and supply nationwide.
