The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a South African woman with 36.65kg of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Qhina Beauty, 34, was arrested on October 7, 2026, while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to South Africa via Doha. Operatives found 30 blocks of cocaine laced with dried pepper concealed in her two travelling bags. She told investigators she came to Nigeria on September 30 to collect the drug after being promised R20,000 by another South African lady, and linked operatives to a US-based contact and a Lagos car dealer.

The car dealer, 46-year-old Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, was tracked and arrested on October 14 at Apple Junction, Lagos. He confessed to receiving Qhina at the airport and lodging her at hotels in Amuwo-Odofin before her departure.

In a separate bust at the airport on October 21, NDLEA arrested 62-year-old US-based realtor, Anetor Gloria Ubong, upon arrival from Houston with 9.45kg of Loud hidden in gift-wrapped parcels. She claimed her daughter gave her the box to deliver to her daughter’s fiancé, Jibola, in Nigeria.

Nationwide operations also yielded large seizures, including 5,820 diazepam pills and 3.7kg skunk in Lagos, over 29,000 tramadol capsules in Delta, 197.8kg cannabis in Ibadan, 159 blocks in Kano, 64,000 opioid pills in Niger, and 583kg cannabis in Ondo, while over 2,000kg was destroyed on farms in Edo State.
