The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says its officers intercepted high-grade drugs hidden inside water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands to Lagos. The consignment, which included 3kg of ketamine and 199g of MDMA pills, was carefully concealed in the appliances and recovered at a Lagos courier facility on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
In Kaduna, operatives arrested Musa Sunday, Mercy Sunday, and Salomi Ezekiel, 38, after finding 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246kg at their Gonin Gora residence on Sunday, 24 May. That same day, NDLEA patrols on the Abuja-Kaduna highway at Jere intercepted Sunusi Musa, 30, with 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm ammunition heading to Katsina. The suspect and ammunition were transferred to the relevant security agency. Similar operations in Niger on 27 May led to the recovery of 457kg of skunk and the arrest of Godwin Zakka, 46, while in Enugu on 28 May, officers stopped a commercial bus and seized 22,000 tramadol tablets, 100 pentazocine ampoules, and 200g of bromazepam, arresting James Maigari Wisdom.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), NDLEA Chairman/CEO, lauded the Kaduna, Niger, Enugu Commands and DOGI for the operations. He also highlighted ongoing War Against Drug Abuse campaigns in schools, places of worship, and communities nationwide, charging officers to maintain the balance between drug supply reduction and prevention advocacy.
