The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project at Esie Kingdom, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Unveiled on Thursday, 30 July 2026, the project includes an industrial solar-powered borehole, a 60,000-litre overhead tank, and a full water reticulation system.
The intervention was dedicated in honour of Rear Admiral Ibrahim Mohammed-Katsina (Rtd.) and executed in the hometown of his late wife, Princess Barrister Basirat Babalola Mohammed-Katsina. Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Director of Veteran Affairs, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeeq, said the project falls under the Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that it also serves to recognize and honour distinguished senior officers of the service.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Elesie of Esie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Yakub Agboola Ibrahim Babalola, Egunjobi II, applauded the Chief of the Naval Staff, describing the project as a major step toward solving the community’s potable water challenges and improving hygiene and sanitation. Project facilitator, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Mohammed-Katsina (Rtd.), thanked the CNS for the opportunity to give back to Esie Kingdom. The event was attended by the Chief of Staff, Kwara State Government, members of the Council of Chiefs, and senior military officers.
