The Nigerian Navy has commissioned an industrial solar-powered borehole, a 35,000-litre overhead tank, and a water reticulation system for Muye community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. The Special Intervention Quick Impact Project was commissioned on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, in honour of the Commandant, Naval War College Nigeria, Rear Admiral Mohammed Adamu Muye, as part of giving back to his hometown.
Speaking at the event, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by the Director of Veteran Affairs, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeeq, said the project is under the CNS Special Intervention Quick Impact Programme and aligns with the Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility as well as the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Special Guest of Honour, Abdulmalik Abubakar, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, described the intervention as a major relief for residents who previously trekked long distances for water, adding that it will also improve hygiene and sanitation for families and schoolchildren.
Rear Admiral Muye thanked the Chief of the Naval Staff for the platform to support his community’s development. The commissioning drew royal fathers, senior military officers, and Lapai Local Government officials, who hailed the project as a significant boost to living standards in Muye.
