STOCKHOLM — Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, Her Excellency Ambassador Lola Akande, formally assumed office on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, after presenting her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
The colourful ceremony, conducted with full Swedish tradition and ceremonial honours, officially accredited her as Nigeria’s envoy to the Kingdom, signalling a renewed chapter in Nigeria-Sweden relations.
A reception at the Nigerian House followed, drawing diplomats, Swedish foreign affairs officials, the Corps of African Women Ambassadors, business leaders and members of the Nigerian community. Akande’s accreditation is expected to boost bilateral cooperation in trade, innovation, culture and people-to-people ties.
