The Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, has in a proactive and prompt response in curbing illegal maritime and economic activities, with the aid of the state of the art Falcone Eye Alignment, intercepted a wooden boat laden with 300 drums, pumping machines, various equipment with an 8 man crew within the Lagos anchorage area.
The stalling of the economic saboteurs occured on the 25th of October, 2023 in the early morning hours about 02:30 hours.
Their mission to carry out illegal bunkering was prevented by the watchful team of NNS BEECROFT and thus, has saved the nation of huge quantities of petroleum products that are scarce and also the prevention of a possible disaster due to non compliance with safety standards as the products are hazardous in the wrong environment.

According to the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Kolawale O. Oguntuga, while handing the suspects over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for investigation and prosecution, he said that the Nigerian Navy remains committed to ensuring that the maritime laws of the nation remain and those who go against it would face the full brunt of the law.
