The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), has advised President Bola Tinubu on the need to urgently evolve policies that will make alternative sources of energy readily available to Nigerians in the face of rising cost of premium motor spirit, following the removal of subsidy on the product.
National President of the Union, Ambali Hakeem made the call in Ilorin the Kwara State capital shortly after a function where he also noted that there is need to assemble technocrats with a view to developing solar and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles to replace diesel, petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to cushion the effects of removal of subsidy removal on Pms on Nigerians.
Hakeem also stressed the need to cut down cost and size of governance in the country, advising that intervention funds be made available to develop the nation’s educational sector .
The Union also called for the arrest of individuals or groups who may have robbed the country huge sums of funds from proceeds of fuel subsidy scam.
