Detectives of the Anti-Robbery Squad, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered three stolen vehicles and a fabricated pistol. The suspects — Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi — were apprehended following a discreet, intelligence-led operation triggered by reports of vehicle theft across the state.
The investigation began with the arrest of Olarewaju, who was found with a suspicious vehicle plate number. That led operatives to Ayinde, identified as the leader of an armed robbery syndicate operating within Ogun and neighbouring states. A stolen Toyota Sienna and a fabricated pistol believed to be used in the crimes were recovered during the operation. In related developments, a Toyota Corolla stolen from Ilaro was recovered from Arowolo Taoreed in Ibadan, Oyo State, while a grey 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport traced to Abuja was recovered after Adewusi’s arrest. A pistol recovered in Ajah, Lagos State, was also linked to the same network.
Preliminary investigation indicates the suspects are part of a coordinated criminal network involved in vehicle theft and armed robbery. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members and recover additional stolen vehicles. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to crime prevention and public safety.
