The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Wednesday received separate courtesy visits from the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, led by Secretary General Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, and the Afenifere National Youth Council, led by National President Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. Both delegations said the visits were aimed at strengthening collaboration with the Police on security in tertiary institutions, value re-orientation and crime prevention across the state.
During the meeting with NANS, Comrade Uthman commended CP Ojajuni for his leadership and briefed him on security challenges in campuses, including protection of lives and property and the rise of social vices. The student body pledged support for a safe learning environment and conferred on the CP the honour of “NANS National Ambassador Against Social Vices.” CP Ojajuni thanked NANS for the recognition and said the Command remains committed to its mandate. He noted that proactive operations have yielded results in schools and announced the launch of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, in Ogun State, with a statewide sensitisation on cultism, drug abuse and cybercrime. He urged NANS to partner with the Police to drive the campaign across institutions.
The Afenifere National Youth Council also lauded the CP for what it described as an uncompromising stance against crime and presented him with an award as “Best Commissioner of Police in the South-West on Security.” Prince Ojajuni pledged the Council’s support for public safety efforts. Responding, CP Ojajuni appreciated the award and charged youth leaders to promote hard work, integrity, discipline and responsible citizenship, noting that declining moral values fuel crime and youth involvement in vices. He invited the Council to work with the Command on moral re-engineering and community-driven prevention initiatives, reiterating that sustainable security in Ogun State requires collective responsibility and continuous dialogue with students, youths, community and traditional leaders.
