ABEOKUTA — Operatives of Ibafo Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested three women suspected to be members of a child-stealing syndicate and rescued three children in the area.
The suspects were identified as Kikelomo Jimoh, 36; Kayode Elizabeth; and Blessing Anochike, 60. Police said the breakthrough followed intelligence on a reported case of child stealing which led to Jimoh’s arrest. She allegedly confessed and led detectives to Anochike’s residence where Christiana Olowokere, 14; Olamilekan Abdurusheed, 16; and Adeniji Rebecca, 12 were found. Preliminary investigation revealed that Christiana was allegedly sold for ₦500,000, Olamilekan had earlier absconded from home before he was allegedly abducted, while the circumstances surrounding Adeniji’s custody are still being probed. The children have been rescued and are safe.
The case has been moved to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation to establish full details and identify other possible accomplices. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni praised the Ibafo team for their diligence and assured residents that the Command will continue to disrupt networks that target vulnerable persons. He urged parents, schools, community leaders and transport operators to report any suspicious movement or unexplained disappearance of children.
