The Ogun State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes through intelligence-led and community-responsive policing in Ago-Iwoye, Mowe, and Warewa divisions. The operations led to the arrest of three suspects: Ewebiyi Afeez, 26, a cult leader; Segun Ona Anjo, 32, an armed robbery suspect; and Umar Sulaiman, who was caught receiving and dismantling stolen property. Police also disrupted a planned cult initiation, prevented mob action against a robbery suspect, and recovered a stolen motorcycle and parts of a 10KVA generator valued at ₦650,000.
In Mowe, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested Ewebiyi Afeez, a notorious Eiye Confraternity leader, and stopped a planned initiation to recruit new members. In Ago-Iwoye, police responded swiftly to an armed robbery on Ita-Merin axis on June 16, 2026, where two passengers attacked a commercial motorcyclist with a hammer, injured him, and stole his bike. Residents caught Segun Ona Anjo while he fled and police intervened to stop mob action. The motorcycle and hammer used in the attack were recovered. Preliminary findings link the suspect to similar attacks targeting bikers on isolated routes, and efforts are on to arrest his fleeing accomplice.
In Warewa, detectives arrested Umar Sulaiman at Kara-Isheri while dismantling a 10KVA generator that was rented out and unlawfully sold for ₦15,000. Some parts of the ₦650,000 generator were recovered as exhibits. Investigations suggest the suspect may be part of a wider network dealing in stolen rented equipment. Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni commended the officers for their professionalism and swift response. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing and warned that Ogun remains unsafe for criminals.
