The Ogun State Police Command has impounded six vehicles and cleared shanties and road obstructions in Sango Ota, while also sanitising the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis as part of its ongoing “Operation No Traffic Gridlock”.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni directed the intensified operation across key traffic corridors in the state. In Sango Ota, coordinated night operations led by the Area Commander resulted in the removal of shanties and illegal structures that were obstructing road setbacks and contributing to congestion. Early morning enforcement from 5 a.m. cleared major obstruction points and saw six vehicles impounded for traffic violations. Traffic flow in the area has since improved, with monitoring ongoing to sustain the gains.
At the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis, sustained enforcement led by the Area Commander targeted indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks and roadside trading along the highway. The intervention cleared truck build-ups and removed obstructions, leading to significant improvement in vehicular movement. Compliance enforcement remains in place.
CP Ojajuni warned that illegal parking, roadside trading, and obstruction of highways will not be tolerated and said offenders will be arrested and prosecuted. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the operation until full compliance and seamless traffic flow are achieved across all affected corridors.
