Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested seven suspects and dismantled several criminal cells across Ilaro Area Command, Ibafo, Mowe, Adatan, and Ode-Remo Divisions. The suspects, arrested for armed robbery, One-Chance robbery, fraud, unlawful firearms possession, and cult activities, are Bola Salau, 42, Segun Balogun, 25, Emmanuel Friday, Tunde Abioye, Ankpa James, Tunde Ogunseye, 41, and Owodunni Seun, 36. Items recovered include a stolen Toyota Venza, a Camry linked to a One-Chance gang, three locally made guns, 17 mobile phones, an HP EliteBook laptop, and ₦1.1 million linked to a travel scam. Police say manhunt for fleeing accomplices is ongoing.
Breakdowns of the operations show Ilaro operatives intercepting Salau and Balogun with the Venza stolen in Ede, Osun, on June 23. Ibafo detectives arrested Friday and Abioye at Freeway Hotel, Magboro, after a victim identified them in a One-Chance case and recovered their Camry. Mowe Division picked up James for allegedly defrauding a 21-year-old of ₦1.276m for a fake Luxembourg trip, returning ₦1.1m to the complainant. In Adatan, Ogunseye, a suspected Eiye member, was disarmed after allegedly attacking officers with a fabricated pistol; another gun was found at his residence. Ode-Remo police foiled an attack on students at Itun-Raye, recovering a Dane gun, cartridges, 17 phones, a laptop, and other items, and later arrested Seun, a known ex-convict, near the scene.
CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers’ vigilance and teamwork, restating the Command’s focus on intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention.
