The Ogun State Police Command will today arraign three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over alleged obstruction and serious assault of police officers on lawful duty.
The suspects are Alaba Mulika, 51, Alawode Iyanu, 21, and Temitope Saliu, 29.
The incident happened on September 29, 2026, when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.
While the vehicle was being taken to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street, leading to a confrontation.
During the altercation, Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted. Video clips of the incident later circulated on social media and formed part of materials reviewed by investigators.
Following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, detectives investigated the matter, visited the scene and arrested the suspects.
They will be charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers in execution of duty, serious assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The Command reiterated that safety of officers performing lawful duties remains a priority and urged members of the public to channel grievances through lawful mechanisms rather than resort to confrontation with police personnel.
