The Oshodi Arts Gallery, in Ikorodu, Lagos has held its’ annual Christmas Carol Festival.
The event themed “Sing For Christ”, was not only for singing Christmas Carols but all the features of the program, were strategically planned to get Children to be aligned with Christian values of morality and being Christ like. With side attractions like fun games, dancing competition, ample snacks and drinks, the event could best be described as a carnival of sorts.
Speaking with Dr. Seyi Oshodi Paul, the Chief Executive Officer of .the Oshodi Art gallery, which is the largest Art gallery in West Africa, and the major organizers of the event, he harped on catching Children young, when they can be mentored and easily taught to hold on to the right values and embrace the love of God and grow up to be a responsible and have the right mindset. He said that this is the best way to safeguard children in a world that is fast paced and losing moral values.He further said that the event had been running for three years and that next year’s event would be more colourful and refreshing.
Speaking with a guest at the event, Desmond Ayeleso, proprietor of De- Genius Academy, Ijede, Ikorodu, he said the event was wholesome and impactful to bring change to the lives of not only the young ones in attendance but to everyone who was at the event. He encouraged the organizers of the Carol Festival to remain resolute in their quest to bring up Children who will have added value to themselves and the society. He praised the Art Gallery and hoped it would continue to thrive as a learning centre that attracts and enhances creativity.
The Creative director of Oshodi Art Gallery, Pastor Prosper said the event was designed as a means of Evangelism and using wholesome entertainment to spread the gospel of Christ. He said the festive season was not only for feel good activities but a time to get closer to God.
Artistes from various comic, singing and entertainment backgrounds were on ground to add to the ambience and colour of the occasion.
