The death of Chief Oladepo Asaolu, the Babaloja of Ora Igbomina, has been the subject of an emergency inquiry, according to AIG Wale Olokode, the commissioner of police for Osun State.

Asaolu was killed by several suspected ritualists, and Olokode has demanded an autopsy on his remains.
It had been claimed that the Osun State Police Command had announced Asaolu’s kidnapping and death in a statement on Sunday.

According to a statement made by the police spokeswoman, Yemisi Opalola, the incident was reported by Oladepo Olasunkanmi at the Oke-Ila Police Division on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at around 12:30 pm.

According to the police report, one of his renters, Sunday Johnson, picked him up on a motorcycle on October 5, 2022.
Asaolu had been kidnapped by Johnson, who then sold him for N1 million. The deceased was allegedly murdered on his farm in the Akisa woodland and left to rot.

The arrest of the suspect, who Opalola claimed had made confessional admissions, was also confirmed.

She claims that the detention of Johnson resulted in the detention of three additional suspects, all of whom have already admitted to taking part in the victim’s kidnapping and murder.

However, a relative of the deceased revealed that the bones were turned down for embalming at the General Hospital in Omu Aran because they were already starting to rot. Speaking, one of the family members, Kayode Adekunle, said police have asked that the body be brought to Osogbo for proper investigation and documentation.
