Dr. Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary of the federal ministry of transportation, has received an award for excellence for supporting federal civil service capacity building and effective and efficient service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary thanked the non-governmental organization, Vision-One Leadership Development Initiative (VOLDI), which presented her with the award on Wednesday in Abuja. She also urged them to be more proactive and go above and beyond simply holding annual summits to educate young people about the dangers of vandalism.
“Vandalism continues, and it’s not only happening on the rail tracks. So, one thing I was hoping to hear from your speech was what you are actually doing to safeguard this important government infrastructure in addition to holding summits. I don’t think having a summit once a year is adequate,” she said.
But as a Ministry, we are looking into safeguarding all of our rail tracks, Ajani remarked in response to the question of how to secure the train tracks. In order to ensure that rail tracks remain safe and secure for ongoing human traffic, we are cooperating with security services.
She urged the Association to capitalize on modern technology, especially social media platforms, to not only engage young people in more frequent discussions about how to protect public infrastructures but also to use it to disseminate information that could boost the local economy along train routes.

Speaking earlier, Emmanuel Jonny, Director of the Vision-One Leadership Development Initiative, urged Nigerians to take ownership of government infrastructures in local areas because damage to them will have negative repercussions on all of the nation’s citizens.
“I firmly believe that the propensity to damage government infrastructures will disappear if people start to regard them as their own belongings. We’ll make sure to keep raising this awareness, Jonny stated.
In addition, he cited the railway as one of the pillars of economic development and urged the Ministry to work with it to raise enormous knowledge of peace and tranquillity in order to support the success of government enterprises and policies.
