The Police Campaign Against Cultism And Other Vices(POCACOV), has held an event to take the message of staying away from vices such as Cultism and Drug abuse to young people in Lagos.

The event which held on the 1st of June, 2024, at the grounds of the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos was themed ” Teenagers Stay Informed, Know The Dangers Of Cultism And Drug Abuse.”

There were motivational talks and real life features of ex- cultists and drug users to show that these vices still exist in our society but it is a conscious and individual effort by individuals to rise above the menace and shun these societal ills that affect oneself and the society at large.

The Commissioner Of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, who gave the opening address, also spoke on the connection between these drug and cult vices and how it destroys young lives and leads to other lethal acts. He implored the teenagers to remain focused and live to be responsible citizens of the country as getting involved with drugs and cultism, ultimately can lead to untimely death and disgrace.

The National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, also addressed the teenagers, who were the key audience. She stressed on the need to shun all forms of vices especially as peer pressure can influence a teenager’s decision in life. Speaking further, she said that they were ambassadors and should carry a positive message and influence to their friends and peers.

In attendance were Royal Father’s from across Lagos State, the Police Image maker, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Senior Police Officers, Industry Captains, media practitioners and teenagers and children from several schools in Lagos State.
