The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed social media claims linking AIG Jimoh Moshood to a Lagos State High Court judgment delivered on Friday, August 7, 2026, by Hon. Justice O. L. Alebiosu in the case of Alhaji Hameed Tajudeen vs. Inspector General of Police & 2 Others. The Force said the ruling is being misrepresented by “mischief makers” to serve selfish interests.
In a statement, the police clarified that AIG Jimoh Moshood was not a party to the suit and is not bound by the judgment. It noted the decision was against the Nigeria Police Force as an institution, not against any officer personally. The Force also said the fundamental rights claim in the suit is distinct from the murder charge facing the applicant. On the same day, the court declined bail and directed that the bail application be filed before the court handling the substantive murder case.
The police added that while it reserves the right to appeal the fundamental rights aspect of the judgment, the ruling has no impact on the murder charge pending before a Lagos High Court. It urged the public to stop spreading rumours and media campaigns on a matter that remains sub-judice.
