MOWE — The Ogun State Police Command says operatives of Mowe Division have arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin and recovered a stolen wine-coloured Toyota Camry during a routine stop-and-search on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident occurred at about 7:30am on Thursday, 11 September 2026. According to police, officers flagged the vehicle for checks along the Mowe axis when three occupants abandoned it and ran in different directions. One of them, Monsuru Issa, 28, of Osungboye Street, Agege, Lagos, was arrested after a chase while the car was secured. Preliminary investigation showed the Camry was allegedly stolen on 7 September 2026 from Ojo, Lagos. The case has since been transferred to SCID Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to trace the owner and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the division for its professionalism and said the Command remains committed to proactive patrols to disrupt vehicle theft and highway crime.
