OGUN — Operatives of the Ewekoro Division of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a robbery at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area and arrested two suspects. The incident occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on September 13, 2026, following an anonymous distress call that an armed gang was attacking students.

Police said officers led by the Divisional Police Officer raced to the scene and the suspects abandoned a school bag containing their loot and attempted to flee, but two, Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun, were arrested. A search of the bag led to the recovery of eleven iPhones, an HP laptop and clothing items, which victims have identified. Preliminary investigation showed the gang also forced a victim to transfer N200,000 to an account.

The suspects and exhibits are being moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, while operatives continue to track fleeing members and the owner of the beneficiary account. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the team’s swift response, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to student safety. The Command urged hostel operators and residents to report threats via its toll-free line 0800 000 9111 or 09164859299 and 09154293464.
