President of Poland, Andrzej Duda has paid its very first official visit to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 60 years since the country established diplomatic relations with Nigeria.

After exchanging pleasantries, the visiting President inspected a guard of honour mounted by officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Brigade of Guards.

Both leaders have seized the opportunity to talk about furthering and deepening the relations between the two countries while pointing out that Nigeria is the only African country with which Poland has signed an agreement on Strategic Dialogue including a memorandum of cooperation in the area of agriculture.

This is coming at a time when the entire African continent, Nigeria, not an exception, is faced with a food security crisis.

The meeting between Nigeria and Poland Leaders at the State House Presidential Villa Abuja, addressed some of the most important issues, especially how to provide food security and energy security.

Emphasising on the energy security dimension, President Muhammadu Buhari said the dialogue between both countries are essential from the perspective of supplying both LNG gas as well as oil to Poland and to the European Union.

President Buhari noted that this will contribute to the modernization and increasing the efficiency of Nigerian economy and agriculture.

Recall that the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is totally unjustified, has sparked off a very serious food and energy crisis.
