Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, intensified operations against terrorists and criminal groups across Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma, and Malumfashi LGAs on 9 May 2026, scoring key victories. Acting on intelligence on fleeing terrorists from Dikawa, soldiers from 171 Battalion at FOB FUDMA ambushed the group along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma axis, neutralizing three fighters and recovering two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, a motorcycle, three cutlasses, and assorted charms.

In coordinated clearance operations backed by the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, troops dislodged terrorist camps in Torcachi, Giginya, and Tashar Ganji villages in Matazu, Musawa, and Kankia LGAs. The fighters fled under sustained pressure, allowing troops to recover 175 rustled livestock now held for handover to Matazu LGA authorities. Separately, FOB Malumfashi troops partnered with the NDLEA for a raid in Kauyan Dawo, Malumfashi LGA, arresting six suspected drug peddlers and seizing 82.5g of suspected cannabis sativa, 15.7g of Exol-5, and 1.8g of D5.

The six suspects—Sani Rabiu, 25; Umar Nasiru, 22; Abulkubus Aminu, 35; Abdullahi Halilu, 27; Abubakar Rabiu, 22; and Abubakar Dahiru, 33—along with the narcotics, have been transferred to NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for investigation and prosecution. The Theatre Command said it remains committed to aggressive operations against all threats in the area and urged the public to share timely, credible information with security agencies.
