Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has briefed the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on the preparedness of the country’s general elections amid naira, petrol scarcity.

 

The briefing is coming two days before an emergency meeting of the council of state to be convened on Friday.

 

INEC Chairman who spoke to State House correspondents after leaving the Federal Executive Council meeting, expressed concerns that the current naira, petrol scarcity may affect logistics.​

He restated the commitment of the commission to hold the forthcoming general elections as scheduled.

Meanwhile, the INEC boss received the assurances of the NSA on adequate security and that of the CBN Governor on the availability of cash to aide election logistics.
