Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, has praised troops for their professionalism and fighting spirit during the 81 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Combat Proficiency Competition 2026. The competition ended Thursday, 18 June 2026 at 192 Battalion Rear, Owode-Yewa, Ogun State. Events included weapon handling and shooting, combat swimming, map reading and navigation, physical fitness tests, and obstacle crossing.

Four formations took part: 9 Brigade Ikeja, 35 Artillery Brigade Abeokuta, 45 Engineer Brigade, and 81 Division Garrison Obalende. 45 Engineer Brigade emerged overall champion, with 35 Artillery Brigade placing second, 9 Brigade third, and 81 Division Garrison fourth. Represented by Division Training Officer Brig. Gen. HM Bello, the GOC commended officials and umpires for professionalism, noting the high standards reflected strong leadership. He said the exercise underscored the role of WOs/SNCOs in maintaining operational effectiveness and combat readiness.

Commander 81 Division Garrison Brig. Gen. AI Getso, who hosted the event, described it as a showcase of discipline, teamwork and resilience that define the Nigerian Army. He thanked Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu NAM through the GOC for support. The closing ceremony, attended by government officials, security agency heads and traditional rulers, ended with trophies, prizes and awards presented to winning formations.
