The Nigerian National Assembly has sent the Appropriation Bill for 2022 to President Muhammadu Buhari for his signature.
The Federal Government’s budget was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, respectively, raising the total estimates from N16.391 trillion to N17.126 trillion.
The assembly also increased the oil benchmark from $57 per barrel to $62 per barrel.
The budget would be sent to Buhari by Thursday, according to Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
The budget was transmitted on Friday and received by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President on Saturday, according to a communication from the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ojo Amos, to the Presidency.
The letter of transmission, titled ‘APPROPRIATION BILL, 2022,’ was addressed to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and had the reference number NASS/CNA/37/Vol.1/35.
