The Lagos State Police Command has recorded significant achievements in its fight against crime, apprehending 26 suspects involved in various offenses, including murder, armed robbery, defilement, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.
At a press briefing held today on Monday 24th March,2024 at the Command Headquarters, the police revealed that multiple cases had been successfully cracked, leading to the recovery of four firearms, 21 live rounds of ammunition, six vehicles, illicit drugs, and stolen valuables.
On February 17, 2025, a case of conspiracy and armed robbery was transferred from Okota Division. The complainant alleged that his girlfriend, Emmanuella Ogochukwu (25), conspired with her brother and accomplices to rob him of three iPhones and bitcoins worth ₦15 million. Following an investigation, police operatives arrested Emmanuella’s younger brother, Ogbuka Tochukwu (22), and four others: Babatunde Ibrahim (23), Michael Odova (24), Seidu Abba (20), and John Wisdom. A locally made pistol, four cartridges, and an axe were recovered. The police are still searching for four additional gang members.
On March 13, 2025, detectives arrested Aderinsola Addiths (74) for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Iju. The case has been transferred to the Gender Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
On March 12, 2025, two suspects, Rasaki Ibrahim (19) and Okikiola Kazeem (28), were arrested at Amukoko for allegedly robbing pedestrians under the pretense of street fighting. A cutlass, Indian hemp, and hard drugs were recovered.
On March 14, 2025, detectives arrested six suspects – Idowu Ajewole, Waheed Opeyemi, Samuel Bamidele, Ajoke Oluwaseun, Layide Ogunseun, and Adetipe Olubunmi – linked to a robbery and fraud syndicate operating in Iju Ishaga. Two Toyota Camry vehicles and fake dollar notes were recovered.
On March 19, 2025, at Oke-Ira Ilogbo, Eremi, police arrested Peter Dike for allegedly stabbing his wife to death. A blood-stained kitchen knife was recovered at the scene. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
On March 21, 2025, in Ikorodu, a police patrol team recovered a Lar rifle with 12 rounds of ammunition and an SMG rifle abandoned by fleeing suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
On March 10, 2025, Musa Zayanu allegedly stabbed Mahmud (25) during an altercation at Bolar Site, Abule Egba. The victim succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was arrested, and the weapon was recovered.
A major financial crime was uncovered following a report of fraudulent transactions amounting to £138,924 (₦277.8 million) from a bank’s domiciliary accounts. The investigation led to the arrest of Shuaib Oluwatobiloba Olaleye (27), Oladunjoye Adegoke (33), and two bank officials, Austin Alfred (38) and Jude Uzobuaku (36), for facilitating the illegal transfers. Two Toyota Camry vehicles suspected to be proceeds of the fraud were recovered.
On March 14, 2025, two suspects, Emmanuel Cletus (32) and Adegor Joshua (27), were caught with an automatic pistol and five rounds of live ammunition at Sangotedo along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
A teacher and principal of Okota Junior Grammar School, Kayode Abolarin and Atueyin Martins, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old student, causing the loss of three teeth. The case is being charged to court.
Following intelligence on a criminal syndicate specializing in car snatching, police arrested Ojo Dolapo (22) in Ikotun. He led operatives to the recovery of two stolen Lexus vehicles, with efforts ongoing to retrieve more.
The Lagos State Police Command, under CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured residents that the state’s crime rate remains under control. The police commended the public for their cooperation and expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its continuous support in logistics and operations.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure a safer Lagos.
