BRIGADE COMMANDER LEADS TROOPS OUT OF WAJIROKO AMBUSH IN INTENSE BORNO CLASH

Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade successfully fought their way out of a deadly ambush near Wajiroko in the Azir–Multe area of Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, following a routine patrol aimed at securing communities around the Sambisa Forest corridor. The patrol, led by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General M. Uba, came under sudden and intense fire from terrorists while returning to base after a successful mission.

In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, on 15th November 2025, the ambush was met with firm resistance as troops of the Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), overpowered the insurgents with coordinated and superior firepower. The swift and decisive response forced the terrorists into disarray, compelling them to abandon their attack.

Despite the victory, the military suffered the loss of two soldiers and two CJTF members who fell in the line of duty. Their sacrifice, described as a mark of courage and devotion to national service, reflects the harsh realities of frontline operations in one of the most volatile theatres of conflict in the country. The Nigerian Army extended its condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen operatives, honoring their legacy of bravery.

The Army also dismissed circulating online claims alleging the abduction of the Brigade Commander, describing such reports as false and misleading. The public was urged to disregard the misinformation and continue to support the armed forces as they sustain ongoing counterterrorism efforts across the Northeast.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commended the troops for their resilience and unwavering commitment, noting that their actions continue to exemplify the spirit of service and sacrifice that underpins national security operations. The incident stands as another reminder of the daily risks borne by Nigeria’s military personnel as they defend the nation from extremist threats.
