Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has said the APC primaries should be seen as a contest of ideas and plans for the state’s progress, not a battle between individuals. After casting his vote at Ward A4 in Epe, he stressed that the focus should be on how aspirants can move Lagos forward, noting that the peaceful atmosphere at polling units shows the party’s commitment to unity and internal democracy.
Hamzat praised party members for turning out in an orderly manner across the state, saying the process reflects confidence in APC’s democratic structure. He explained that the primaries, held in 45 wards, signal a bright future for the party and reassured voters that APC would present clear programmes to improve governance and development. According to him, the party understands Lagos’ needs and is positioned to secure a better future for the next generation.
At Ward A4, Hamzat secured 2,210 votes from 2,432 accredited members, with the Returning Officer citing early departures for the lower turnout. INEC’s committee lead Rtd. Gen. Jon Temlong and APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi commended the smooth conduct statewide, saying it aligns with party guidelines and electoral law and demonstrates how deeply democratic practices have taken root in Lagos.
