The West African Examinations Council, Nigeria, has debunked a fraudulent letter circulating online dated 27 May 2026 with ref. L/SED/12/DIST/VOL. 4/460. The fake letter, addressed to school proprietors and principals, claimed WAEC had finalized plans to deploy Nigeria Police Force and NSCDC personnel to all exam centers nationwide from 1 June 2026 and bore a forged signature of the Senior Deputy Registrar/Head, Test Administration, Mr. S.D. Kum.
WAEC Management said the document did not originate from the office of the Senior Deputy Registrar, Test Administration, or any department of WAEC Nigeria. The Council stated it has not issued any directive for security deployment to individual centers as described, and described the letter as the work of fraudsters seeking to cause panic and disrupt the ongoing WASSCE for School Candidates, 2026.
School authorities, supervisors, invigilators, parents, and candidates are urged to disregard the fake letter. WAEC also wished all registered candidates for the 2026 WASSCE success in their preparations and examinations.
