Troops of 82 Division Garrison, Sector 1, Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with the DSS Enugu State Command, have uncovered a major IPOB/ESN arms cache in Gariki, Enugu South LGA. The operation on 9 June 2026 was based on credible intelligence from previously arrested suspects linked to the group. The hideout was concealed in a zinc structure disguised as a piggery. A sweep of the site yielded General Purpose Machine Guns, an RPG-7 launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, a tear gas gun with cartridges, AK-47 magazines, 270 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, and 478 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammo.

All recovered weapons and arrested suspects have been handed over to the DSS Enugu State Command for further investigation and prosecution. Security forces described the operation as a significant success under Operation EASTERN SANITY II, aimed at consolidating peacebuilding efforts in the South East and dismantling criminal networks threatening public safety.

Operation UDO KA said the intelligence-driven raid reflects strong interagency collaboration and its commitment to sustained offensive action against groups undermining national unity. The Operation reaffirmed its dedication to protecting citizens and preserving sovereignty, and urged the public to continue providing timely, credible information to security forces to support lasting peace and security in the region.
