The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, has tasked Commanders across the Division’s Area of Responsibility to deliver measurable impact that improves operational effectiveness and troops’ welfare. He gave the charge on Tuesday, 4 August 2026 while commissioning strategic infrastructural projects at Headquarters 81 Division Garrison, Dodan Barracks, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The projects commissioned include the renovation of the Arms Store, CO Admin Office, Garrison Headquarters Complex, and Training Shed, as well as the remodeling of the Garrison Commander’s Office, PA’s Office and Waiting Room. A groundbreaking was also done for a Modern Children’s Playground within the barracks. Maj Gen Babalola commended the Garrison Commander, Brig Gen AI Getso, for aligning the projects with the Chief of Army Staff’s “Soldier First Culture.” He said the renovated Arms Store strengthens operational readiness and accountability, while the playground reflects commitment to military families. He urged personnel to sustain the facilities through discipline and professionalism, stressing that “every month, I must see the impact of what you are doing in your units and formations.”

In his remarks, Brig Gen Getso said the projects were aimed at improving operational efficiency and personnel welfare. He disclosed that the playground will be named the Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola Children’s Playground in honour of the GOC. He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, the GOC, past commanders and other stakeholders for their support. The ceremony had in attendance formation commanders, senior officers and guests, and ended with souvenir presentations, facility inspection, the playground groundbreaking, and group photographs.
