MOWE — The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled a suspected human trafficking and baby trafficking syndicate operating in Abaren Village, Mowe. The intelligence-driven operation, carried out on 24th August 2026 by operatives of the Mowe Division, led to the rescue of two pregnant women and four children, and the arrest of six suspects including Florence Glory Ogbona, 58, Magdalene Julius, 63, Chidike Egwuonwu, 40, Onyechu Chidike, 35, Stephen Ogbona, 39, and nurse Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.
The raid took place around 8:00 a.m. at a facility on Toluwalase Street where preliminary findings showed illegal adoption and trafficking activities had been ongoing. Rescued were Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, eight months pregnant, along with four children — two boys and two girls. In a follow-up, police tracked another victim, Blessing Bright Effiong, 26, to a hospital in the Mowe area where she delivered a baby boy on 20th August. The infant’s whereabouts remain unknown, which led to the nurse’s arrest to aid investigations.
The case has been moved to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation, to locate the missing newborn and prosecute those involved. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the operatives for their swift response and restated the Command’s resolve to end human trafficking and child exploitation in the state.
