Lagos — The Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has extended greetings to Muslims in Lagos and across Nigeria on the occasion of Mīlād an-Nabī, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He described the day as a period for deep reflection on the Prophet’s life of faith, compassion, honesty, justice, patience and peaceful coexistence.
Dr. Hamzat urged the Muslim faithful to go beyond celebration and embody the virtues of the Prophet, including love for humanity, humility, truthfulness, forgiveness, kindness to the less privileged, and commitment to justice. “The essence of Mīlād an-Nabī goes beyond celebration. It is an opportunity for us to reflect deeply on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet and to recommit ourselves to the values he exemplified,” he said, noting that those teachings provide guidance for building a society founded on mutual respect and integrity.
The Deputy Governor also called on all Nigerians, irrespective of religion or ethnicity, to promote peace, unity and understanding, stressing that national progress depends on harmonious living. He encouraged Muslims to use the period to pray for Nigeria’s peace, stability and prosperity, and to extend generosity to those in need. Reaffirming the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to religious harmony and inclusion, Dr. Hamzat prayed that the celebration would bring renewed faith and blessings to Muslim families and to the nation.
