The Dredgers Association of Nigeria (DAN) has dissociated itself from a report published on October 23, 2026, on Linda Ikeji’s Blog and other platforms claiming the Association accused the Lagos Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, and Mr. Cardozo of extortion.
DAN, in a disclaimer by its National Leadership, said the report did not emanate from its leadership or any authorised organ, stressing that it neither authorised nor issued any petition accusing Alebiosu and Cardozo of harassing dredgers and tipper operators or impounding trucks for N500,000.
The Association said its engagement with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains cordial and collaborative, noting that regulatory issues around dredging and Supreme Court rulings on shoreline authority are being handled through appropriate institutional channels. It urged the public to disregard the publication and apologised for any embarrassment caused to the state government and officials mentioned.
