The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up preparations for the 2027 General Elections with the conclusion of a five-day Election Security Management Training organised by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, NPTF.

The intensive training, held from Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30, 2026, was facilitated by 3Streams Synergy and brought together personnel predominantly from the Lagos State Police Command, alongside participants from the FCID Annex Lagos, Zone 2 Headquarters, Special Fraud Unit, SFU, and the Special Protection Unit, SPU.

According to the Command, the programme was designed to strengthen officers’ capacity for effective election security management, with sessions focusing on professionalism, political neutrality and impartiality, respect for human rights, crowd management, inter-agency collaboration and strict adherence to the rule of law.

The training comes as security agencies nationwide begin early preparations for the 2027 polls, with Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial hub and most populous state, considered critical to peaceful elections.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his sustained commitment to capacity development and professional policing, and thanked the NPTF for providing what he described as a valuable training opportunity.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding the electoral process, and ensuring that all citizens can exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful and secure environment.
